Penton Talk / NOS tank

I had one tank that bubbled the paint and the fuel was not supposed to have any ethanol. The only time I used pump gas but the station owner said it was ethanol free. $400 paint job down the drain. Maybe he lied but I hate to risk it again.

Penton Talk / Tanks and the modern fuel

Brian have you used only race fuel in your tanks that failed with Caswell? I just did a Bultaco tank and plan on only using race fuel and now I am wondering if it will fail over time.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ed and he painted many tanks for me over the years. He was a very good person and I will miss him for sure.

Penton Talk / Looking for information...
December 05, 2012, 07:47:17 AM
I remember Jerry Majors from back in the 70's. He did a few cylinders for me, a cr125 Honda and Sherpa S Bultaco. He did outstanding work and signed his name on the bottom of the cylinder. I am not sure if he is still around but he did live in Grapevine back then. By the way both bikes were rockets that he did, the Bultaco was the fastest Sherpa S at the local flat track races and was protested twice because they could not believe it was a 200cc and not a 250.

Penton Talk / Mothers Day
May 13, 2010, 01:16:07 PM
Great story Alan. Your mom was a giving person. I lost my mom about 2 years ago and it is hard on mothers day. I remember all she did for me when I was to young to drive, taking me here and there to get bike parts or to the races. She would give me her last dollar to buy gas so I could go riding and drive me to get the gas. RIP Mom you are missed.

I want to try that POR 15 also. Have heard good things about it on this site. I went with the Caswell because I already bought it before hearing about the POR.

I see the clear called Pelucid single component clear coat. Is this what you are using?

Is the POR 15 clear different than the standard  tank sealer? I see a cycle tank repair kit on the web site but it has metal prep included.
