Hi Greg. Real easy to set timing too advanced if using mark on case as a reference. Be careful...good luck.  Harry

Penton Talk / No gas!

I hope I didn't get your hopes up. My 24mm includes a brass tube that is fixed in the body that fits into that cast hole in the bowl when assembled.  There is a small hole (also shown in your picture) at the bottom of the casting that must be clear... at least on the 24mm. Check that this is clear with a fine wire or drill bit. Harry

Hi Andreas...If you could post a picture of the bowl that would help me to explain or at least know if I'm on the right track. I'd post pictures if only I knew how! Harry

Penton Talk / No gas!

On my set up the tube is fixed to the carb body. I believe it serves to siphon gas from the carb bowl. At the end of the tube (in the bowl housing) is a small hole. Make sure this is not plugged. Harry

Where is the copper siphon tube that should be in the carb  body? Good Luck! Harry

Thanks Ernie...that's the procedure I had followed in the past. This time I thought that maybe the legs would be more likely to be installed parallel if I pinch them on to the axle first before tightening the axle bolt. The legs seem to draw in a tad when I  tighten the axle first..like maybe I should install a shim. Just thinking... Thanks for your response.  Harry O

Penton Talk / Hub Assembly help
February 18, 2014, 01:24:43 PM
I recently laced my '69 hubs with no problems. The pictures I had taken before disassembly were  invaluable. Let me know if you would like to view. I used my modified "Total Gym" as a truing stand! Not sure you will find what you need in a manual...possibly.  Harry

Penton Talk / Steel tank head gasket
June 25, 2013, 12:36:39 PM
Recently came upon this question when working on same vintage bike. Did not use a head gasket...runs great. I believe the torque value is 22 or 23 ft. lb. for the cast iron cylinder. Good luck on your project. Harry

Try Vintage Iron. They list the $20 mouth guards on their site.  Harry

I should have mentioned my instructions were for the wiseco piston, 1st oversize-red box- and for the 125 Sachs. Harry

The instructions for the drilling state 2 holes (.060-.090") .375" apart and starting .300" below the bottom ring. As Ted stated this is for a cylinder with an exhaust bridge. I have no exhaust bridge- drilled no holes - and is running fine...after correcting a timing issue. Good luck! Harry
