Thanx, I'm putting a 410 Stormer together and the fuel tank has me nervous.

Lindemann,
Are you telling me to "prep" ONLY with the lacquer thinner and SKIP the ketone?
(on a fiberglass tank)

Penton Talk / still can't break it free......

I mentioned "oil of wintergreen" in another one (of your threads). An "Old school" Harley guy in another forum SWEARS by it !

I've always had excellent success with PB powerblaster.

Steve, I read in another forum about using
"Oil of Wintergreen" to "free-up" stuck pistons. I've never used it personally, BUT it is supposedly available at "better" drugstores. Good Luck

I'm still very curious about that engine..."Hiro" just doesn't have a "mediterranean ring" to it.

whatever you do DON'T use the stuff in the small bottles at the auto parts. It's over 90% mineral spirits and will run as hot as a firecracker......No good for aircooled engines. The ethanol/methanol warning on your '85 model is because the eth/meth will deteriorate your fuel lines and any other rubber parts (needle valve tip etc.)

Penton Talk / Bing "baseline" carb. settings

Here's the deal, I tore the carb. apart last week & cleaned it all up. when i reassembled & installed it I turned on the petcock on it didn't dribble so I figured I was good to go.
ha! ha! apparently these bings have NO overflow feature so when the needle valve stuck it just went ahead and filled the crankcase cavity up. So at this point it was so loaded up that I have no clue how it's really gonna run. I'll adjust the air screw properly and check for an intake leak and then take it for a good ride to clear it out real good and then I'll let you guys know what I find.
Seems like it's gonna be a fun little bike.
