Penton Racing Talk / Hangtown MX
May 24, 2018, 08:40:39 PM
Pat, Pete ,    I actually raced that Plymouth track! April 8, 1974.   First AMA 125 national.
I was mildly shocked to find out that the Hangtown homepage was using an old Photo for their 50th anniversary showing me in a group of 125 riders in the staging area!!
Also shown prominently in this picture is Jim Hale on a Penton. Jim, who started several companies including , Mechanix Wear,  tragically passed away a week ago at the age of 64.   Dale has the photo. Maybe he can post it. I'm horrible at posting photos!

Penton Racing Talk / Marvins Pass

I know Larry saw the press conference #128077;... It's a must see!
Marvin kinda called out Eli for the Vegas / Dungey treatment . Then Eli fired back with " hey, you set that all up when you let Dungey by for the win" ( I forget what race it was)
Man... Tons of tension in that press conf.   Let he without sin cast the first stone! Ha!

Penton Talk / Frank Piasecki
March 06, 2018, 10:42:50 PM
Thanks Larry.  During my teen years, Piasecki Cycle was my second home. Frank really helped fuel the off road motorcycle scene in northwest Ohio and surrounding areas. Frank was a "mans man". Even won the Jackpine in 1952 I think. What I personally remember most was how kind and patient he was. Always very busy running the service station and towing business but always made time for you.  His 3 boys, Jim,Jeff and Kevin ran the cycle shop. Daughter Pam also worked in the business. Countless friendships (life long friendships)
Can be directly attributed to Mr. Frank Piasecki. He was a role model , mentor and friend to many. All the good things that made Frank the man he was can be seen today in his boys, who I'm proud to call friends. He lived a full life, a good life. Frank will be missed by many.

Sounds like your son can twist a throttle pretty darn good!!  Ha! To my point, Ryan Dungey on a 1971 TM400 could beat me like a rented mule, even if I was on a 2018 KTM 450 Factory Edition.......... Even if I was 40 years younger. LOL

As we know, many times the rider's skills trump the bike.
Nice accomplishment !!
