Penton Talk / Repairing a modern Clarke after-market tank
February 14, 2014, 01:59:29 PM
Well, good news reference my Clarke tank. They contacted me again and said they will warranty the tank and send a new one one to me! I pay shipping cost(which is certainly not an issue). Perhaps this will work out!

Penton Talk / POG Newsletter No. 61
December 08, 2013, 08:20:49 AM
I found this latest issue in my PO box on the way to work this morning. Since not much is happening in the police world at 0530 on a Sunday in icy central Texas(we're experiencing New Hampshire in Texas right now), I am enjoying a quick initial read of this issue with a cup of coffee. Thank you Conrad Pfeifer and Ted del Solar for the great articles! Great pictures and reflections on riding and family. I appreciate the hard work and time that goes into running the POG. Many thanks!

What a great photo of a classic dirt bike! It's still strange to me to see the modern riding gear with the vintage bikes.

It's strange that I came upon this thread just now because earlier today I was thinking of my meeting with Mr. Borne as I was traveling on US 50 and passed the turn off to Reedsville, WV where Al told me he was from. I had the honor of meeting Al at a POG meeting.

Penton Talk / Quieting a skid plate on a DS bike
December 29, 2012, 10:08:29 AM
Thanks Ted! Aside from the oil drain plug hole on the bottom, this plate is completely solid(no holes). Do you think drilling some 1" holes in it might help also?

Don't leave out the gravel and sand roads of the beautiful Texas Hill Country Kip. The 800 is a great bike for a ride along the Llano River(which is where I'm headed right now!)

Mark P,

Here's a good link for riding in the Del/Mar/VA/PA region.

http://www.enduro.4t.com/riding.htm

There's also several riding clubs in the area as well.

I belong to Potomac Vintage Riders Club (PVR) --- great group of folks with alot of great regional vintage and post vintage racing.

Here's the PVR link:

Here's the Ahrma North Atlantic link:

Hope you find these helpful.

This is EXACTLY what I am looking for! Many thanks!

Penton Talk / Riding Areas

If I move back, I think I'll start looking around at the larger propertyowners and investigate if they would be open to a lease-type agreement for access(like purchasing a deer lease). Of course, it would involve having good release and legal agreements.

Maryland use to havesome ORV trails but I think they are all closed by the libs.

Penton Talk / Riding Areas
August 12, 2012, 07:22:06 AM
Thought I'd kick start this thread again-Im gathering intel, as we use to say in a previous occupation.

My dad passed on several weeks ago and I may be moving back to the family home in southern Garrett County, MD to take care of mom. I'm looking for off-road riding areas in the far western MD, WV, PA area. Growing up was a long time ago and neighbors were different, less development and we were allowed to ride on adjacent land. Of course, times change. Here in Central TX, I buy a membership to a family ranch that has off-road riding.

Any insight, direction, etc is welcomed.

I am sorry to hear of his death. I was aware of who the gentleman was but not that he was a retired fellow police officer. Its been a tragic month for me. I lost my dad this Saturday morning. He was 86.
