Wanted / For Sale / Wanted 1977 400 Motor for MC5
November 18, 2014, 07:08:48 PM
I ended up buying a 77 MC5 400 from Tom Brosius. I have to say that the bike is everything and more that he told me. Road it at the AVDRA event in Tucson AZ after Tom Height (I know I'm spelling his last name wrong) drove it down from Denver. It's almost to pretty to ride but have I an extra tank and plastic to use. I now have a pattern to copy over to my existing 400.
I can't thank everyone to much for all the help in making this happen.

There's going to be an AVDRA event in Tucson AZ November 16. Any chance one of you guys coming to that event?

That would be great. Flagstaff is only 2 hours up the hill from here. Let me know how I can make that happen.

Looks like both of you are going the wrong way. I appreciate the support though. If I can't find anyone headed this way it will just have to be an excuse to take some needed vacation time.

Thanks Tom. I will be dropping a check in the mail Wednesday. It's a perfect 77 MC5. I'll take a look at the motor when my son and I come get the bike. 12 hour drive from here. He's going to hate me for this.

Penton Talk / Correct me if I'm wrong

I just had the most interesting experience at a salvage yard in Rye Arizona. I stopped in to see if this guy had any Penton or KTM bikes and if I could look at them. Now this guy has hundreds of old motor cycles just spread  out(stacked next to each other) all over about 2 acres of land with no organization to it. I was not aloud to touch anything or move one bike to see another. He did have a few KTM's that look as though they might be worth a second look. I need to verify as to what I'm looking at. Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of these.

I'm thinking this is a 1980 250 GS/RV but I really cant make out the first digit. I can send you a photo of the frame with the code if needed on this one. Someone painted it purple so don't
be shocked when you see it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone headed south from the Denver area. Buying a bike from Tom and thought I would go pick it up but doing the math it's going to get expensive running my Suburban up there and back. Give me a call if anyone is headed this way please.
Dwight.

I currently have a 1977 MC5 400 (550 06587) but it came with a 1974 and a half 400 motor(4-5500874)Clock reads 7 of 74. What I would like to do is get the right motor for this frame. The reason being is that the case on my current motor is a little different. It dose not have the hump on the shifter side for the stabilizer. I would also be interested in having the right frame for my current motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
