Penton Talk / Re: 1973 Penton 250cc hare scrambler

Two guys that I rode with and competed against bought new in early 74 250 Harescrambler and Jackpiner that looked like one in picture but wheels were akront and silver and fully stock as well as the Jackpiner his brother had . To bad he traded for new yamaha MX which I though was a trade down . Pentons were race ready out of the crate and a winner if you had the talent .

I remember him and his teammate going up against the Honda cr back in 73 / 74 and how he rode the wheels off in the 250 class .  I also was riding a CZ 400 at the time and for a couple more seasons . The bikes were very competive in amateur ranks .

Thanks Paul , I remember some years but the people that actually rode in these events can shed light like no other .  I just enjoy hearing people tell their stories out of their eyes , what they were seeing at that time . Thanks I have read that article and all the other Keeping Tract many many times .  Thanks Paul

Most all marinas sell non Ethanol . Most boat owner that I know don't use ethanol . Here in Michigan , I think its around 3 bucks a gallon or less . Works in all the older boats which fuel line , rubber parts that harden .

Tom Penton, did you participate in this race or the little Harpeth enduro back in the day? I know Jack did and a lot of other great competitors of ISDT at that time . I remember Barry Higgs winning in 1972 . Jack 1973 , Carl 1974 . The reason I ask is I have never seen as many at one race ever since . Around 600 starters I believe.

I post nothing on Facebook or Twitter ,etc .  This is the only site of this type that I visit. If not for Penton clan and all the support would not have any use for other . This site deals alot with MY TIME in dirt that I remmember vividly and love when people share theirs . There is a lot of space between us and this is the only way to keep it real.  Just my 2 cents worth. William H. Rush
