Did you have the crank out of the engine when you did the measurement?  I have found if you don't have the crank secured in a vise, it is very hard to get an accurate measurement.

I have a 1980 390 completely restored new Olins & tight motor . To much bike for me . $ 2800 located in tip of WV  10 min from Stubenville Ohio Call for details . 304 737- 3 zero 7 six. I Also have a 74 1/2 Hairscrabler restored for $2800 I really have 2 so I will sell 1. Getting to many. I cant ride them all!!

Their are 16 holes 3/16 dia on the inside of the head just out side the dome area. They are on 3.462 dia. bc . That puts them under the head gasket but just on the outer side of the metal ring of the gasket. Some heads have them and some don't ! What is the purpose or design for these holes? I have had many people guess as to why they are their but does anyone know for sure?

Sell or trade . 1974 250 motor 1st bore no fins cracked or broken  . Everything is there including clutch arm , needs rebuilt . Was sitting on shelf for 20 yrs .I also have pipe ,air box ,rear hub and skid plate for same bike. All for $500.00 or trade for 1972  125 parts. I need Head, Cylinder ,pipe, mag cover and tank. THE PISTON CRANK ARM HAS ABOUT .002 THOU OF PLAY UP AND DOWN DOES THE MOTOR NEED REDONE COMPLETELY? THE PLAY SEEMS TO BE AT THE END OF THE ARM BEARING NOT THE CRANK BEARINGS. I DID NOT NOTICE ANY TICKING MARKS OR SLAPPING OF THE PISTON ON THE HEAD WHEN I PULLED IT APART . I AM BORING AND REPLACING PISTON AND RINGS . THIS WAS AN ORIGINAL BORE SIZE AND THE BIKE DIDN'T APPEAR BE RIDDEN HARD JUST NOT MAINTAINED VERY MUCH. I WANT TO DO IT RIGHT BUT DON'T WANT TO SPEND $700 MORE ON PARTS AND LABOR IF NOT NECESSARY. ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS WOULD BE APPRECIATED

I have a extra 250 motor if anyone is interested .It is complete. Ser.# 54 30 003 010  Date clock 10/ 73. It will need rebuilt! Bore is ez 71/1r or 71 mm. and looks good. I also have a extra exhaust pipe and air box . Pipe is new but small dent .  Stinger is after market.  Motor $500   Pipe $100   Air Box $50 located in the panhandle of WV .
