Rocket, Rocket, Rocket.  Bad boy!  We need to be nice to new members so they will stay interested in Pentons and then maybe he will sell it to me real cheap.  Just kidding on all accounts.

Welcome to the world of Pentonia a play of life that enjoyed an award winning 10 year run and is now enjoying a revival.

Your bike, depending on storage and condition when put away, can probably have the tank and carb cleaned out, the tranny oil changed, fresh gas put in, a new spark plug put in, and it will  start and go if it is like most the sitting around Pentons I see. Before you put the new plug in put a very tiny bit(maybe a capful) of two stroke oil down the spark plug hole and with the plug out gently turn the motor over a few strokes to get it oiled a bit. Now if the bike had probs and that it why it was put away they won't have gone away but generally not too many new ones pop up if stored decently dry.

As far as value Pentons are becoming quite collectible and prices have gone up on them even in the last year.  Because of this more are being restored and are coming out of their hiding places, like yours has.  This will probably make for some adjustments in prices at some point.  Like many things a Penton is worth what someone will pay for it and on some days with the right buyer they can bring a little too much money.  The prices I will give are a spread and there are many factors in the real price of a bike.  A steel tanker, which a 71 would be, as a complete but non-running bike is worth about $500.  This is a project bike which I don't believe is the way your bike sounds.  A very nice Survivor 71 steel tanker with all the stuff is $1000-$1500.  By Survivor I mean one that looks like it was ridden a season or less and has not been restored.  Now on the right day with the right buyer I have seen this kind bring $2000.  A completely restored to new 71-I don't know.  The survivor one should be worth more but right now I am not sure that is true.  Long term the Survivor will go up in value and can always one day be restored.  I hope this helps a bit.  Of course condition, condition, condition.  Get it running and that adds value no matter what she looks like.

Enjoy your scooter again, let us know how it goes, and remember Rocket asked first and I was second.  Ride ON!

I never knew of this site. I have a 1971 Penton that I have owned since 1974. I is in good original shape. Less than 1000 actual miles on it.Always garaged. It runs well. Serial # 6551-186. I would like to know what's it worth. Should I restore it or just clean it up.
