You guys catch these 2?

I'm watching the Six Days out of curiosity. Seems to me it has been gone through and highly polished. Missing a few original parts. $9k-12k Pentons?

The Jackpiner looks like a pretty sweet bike. Decently priced too.

It's hard to tell what method to use for paint. Are there any markings on the tank that might indicate the type of plastic? Underside? For instance, most modern motorcycle tanks and plastic are Polyehtylene which paint does not adhere to (despite many jokers painting anyway and attaining a slight mechanical bond by sanding). Polypropylene was used some I think. At least Kawasaki used it for body work on the KLRs.

Well shoot. I was hoping someone here could snatch it up.

That's awesome. I would certainly like to see some photos of your son racing in it.

Penton Talk / PVL or Powerdynamo?

Sorry to revive an old thread, but is there any reason why the outside rotor unit wouldn't work on a B motor? HPI lists it for the "5 gears".

Wanted / For Sale / WTB Junk Fiberglass Tank

I think I am going to make it use a 22mm bung for the petcock. The ones like the original Pentons are near impossible to find (M16x1.0 I believe). The 22mm gives a lot of affordable options for petcocks that will mount straight to, then there are adapters readily available to go to other sizes. I am aiming to make a tank for a rider anyway.

Thoughts?

I'm certainly going to be willing to build tanks for people if I get it figured out. Hopefully it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

If you do get to this project, and you don't mind us looking over your shoulder, I would like to see what the process is like. I don't think I would tackle the project but I'm interested in seeing how it's done. Some one posted on here before about taking problem tanks , cutting them in half at the original seem, then rejoining them. Does that sound like an option for you?  I would like to see that also. I have never really worked with glass before, but I like hard work, I can watch it all day long!
   Type at you later,
   Dan McEntee

I'll be sharing what I try and how it turns out. I'm pretty good at making mistakes. I haven't messed with fiberglass since college.

They've started putting ethanol in it. Problematic for the guys with fiberglass tanks. I'm looking there bc I figure that's the first place that may come up with a solution.

I thought about carving out of wood, and that has not been ruled out. But having a tank to use takes a lot of the work out of it. I am actively looking for someone to color match gelcoat; have a lead. I found metal necks and caps that could be used (do not look like originals).  Some boat tanks are fiberglass so I just need to figure out what resin they use. If I'm making a tank, may as well make it resistant to ethanol as well.

I got that impression. The guy is kind of hard to get ahold of.
