Penton Talk / Correct Pipe?
November 30, 2001, 09:09:19 AM
Tim,
I am in the process of rebuilding a 74 250 Harescrambler.  My bike came with a pipe that was fat as you describe all the way to the back with a diameter of a little more than 2 inches with a flat cap, two holes and conected by a spring.  The cap appears to be about 2.5 inches in diameter.  My manual shows a different pipe also, but I was told that there were two different pipes installed on that bike.  My end piece was also missing and when you remove the ring clip the baffle and spring comes out as one unit.  Knowing alittle history about my bike, I believe that this was stock equipment.  Hope that helps.

Penton Talk / 250 Rebuild continues
November 28, 2001, 09:16:21 AM
Larry,
The shifter shaft you sent was perfect and is ready to be installed as sone as I get a pinion bearing for the 5th and 6th gear cluster.  The lever for the shaft that I had has spline errosion problems.  All I need is a shifter lever that you shift the gears with your foot.  I have found that they are in short supply.  Thanks for your help.

Please let me know what you find out about your fiberglass tank. I am in the same situation with a 74 250.  Maybe Clark Plastic Tanks.

Penton Talk / Tank Sealer That Works !!!!

In regards to conditioning a fiberglass tank what are the options or would it be possible to get a metal tank as a replacement for a 1974 Penton 250.  Would Clark plastic tanks make a tank for this bike?

Penton Talk / 250 Rebuild continues
November 25, 2001, 09:23:51 PM
I would first like to thank the people that have responded to my cries for help in rebuilding my 74 250 Penton.  Without your help and words of encouragement I would probably have given up.  But, I am now in the process of going back together with my bike.  I will be in need of a shifter lever as the one I have found will not work due to stressed splines.  Anyone who would be willing to part with an extra shifter lever (for compensation of course), please let me know.  If anyone has any after market ideas, please let me know.  Again, please know that I am gratefull for all the help I have received to date.

Penton Talk / Magneto Puller Penton 250
November 12, 2001, 09:17:14 AM
I am in the process of completely rebuilding a 74 Penton 250.  I have had more road blocks with regard to spliting the cases.  I would like any helpful info. with regards to removing the magento.  There appears to be a special magneto puller made for this motorcycle.  If anyone can tell me how or where to get one I would be indebted.  I love this motorcylce and want to complete a first class restoration.

Penton Talk / 74 250 Harescrambler

I am fixing to split the cases on my 250 to change a gear shifter shaft and seal.  I will be in need of a new shifter shaft and complete seal kit along with gaskets.  I have the owners bible for this bike, but if there is anything in particular I should know that might help me out please let me know.  Also, I am going to check the tolerances for the piston and jug (Harley talk, that is what I am most familier) any ideas on where to get a ring set is also appreciated.
