Ed Abdo is restoring the original motocross track on Zoar Valley road outside Springville NY. This was a great track that ran from 1973 to 1983, and hosted a Trans AMA in 1973 (Roger Decoster), and a 125 national in 1974 (Marty Smith). There is a facebook page growing with lots of people posting pics of vintage bikes. This is going to be a real fun event. I thought some of the POG members might have ridden this track, and might be interested.

Hi Tom!
They found Chucks old Greeves in a barn in the area and restored it. It is now in the Chautauqua Sports Hall of fame room on 3rd St. in Jamestown. I believe he rode a Dalesman (with a Sachs) at the 1971 ISDT. All he ever sold was off road bikes. It was a real treat for me to visit his shop and be around those guys when I was young. If you google his name (spelled Boehler) there are quite a few pictures, and at chautuaquasportshalloffame.org there are some nice write ups. He was a lot like your dad, being pretty humble about it all when he was nominated into the hall.

Penton Talk / "Bad Rock" The Movie

Thanks for letting me know about this movie!
I just ordered a DVD at motostarr.com.
Came to $29.99 with shipping.

I have a DVD of Two Days in September, a documentary of the Corduroy enduro. That's a good one, but is very hard to find and it won't let me copy.

Chuck Boehler sold Pentons, Huskys, Greeves, Hodakas and others in his shop next to his house on Buffalo St Ext just outside Jamestown NY. Chuck was an A rider and rode a couple ISDT's including winning a silver at the Isle of Mann in 1971. You'll see his name often in old publications on lists of enduro winners. Around 1950 he started and was president of the Chautauqua Lake Cyclists club. Chuck set up and ran many scrambles behind the club house on Cowing road which I used to ride my lawnmower motor powered mini bike on in the 70's. He ran a few enduros also, and set up a motocross track on 28 creek road in Gerry NY which ran from 1967 - 1974. This is where I got hooked on MX. He was a hero to us kids in the area. If you google his name, the local Sports Hall Of Fame has some nice write ups about him.

Thanks! I'm still working on replacing all the dried out rubber and gaskets, but everything looks great. Working on a toaster tank.

Wanted / For Sale / eBay: Penton 125 six days

I bought this bike. I looked around for 6 months, and nothing was coming up for sale. I was the $2,500.00 bidder, and the next time it was listed, I decided to go $3000.00 and that did it. Had to have it shipped, and that cost $400.00. I'm real happy with it though. It seems like it's all original except the tires, and the front is a Trelleborg, so it's been on there for a while. Even the fenders are original! It's in great shape. It still has the warning sticker on the air box side panel. Seems to have been used very little, and was well taken care of.
