Happy Birthday Larry....Larry was John Penton's right and left hand man who helped me when I went to Lorain to start my Hi Point shop in Waldorf MD. Larry set me up with posters he had the riders sign and other things including a Berkshire new steel tank swapped from another bike to put on display in the shop. I'am looking at it right now setting on an end table next to my 200le in the living room. One of my best memories from the 70's.Thanks again Larry, Happy Birthday and I hope you have many more.

Penton Talk / Re: Happy John Penton Day !
January 25, 2026, 07:06:56 PM
I remember that day,Dorothy and I traveled to Amherst just to attend that dinner, I still have my invite with his picture hanging over my 125le in the living room. Met a couple of good friends thats lasted all 27 years Kip Kerns and the man thats keeping this web site going with all his posts Paul (steel tanker) Danik. Was a great night.

As I sit at the computer reading the story Paul wrote it brings back a couple of memories of Ed Youngblood.I got to know Ed pretty well in 2004 when him and I put on a Penton display at the Olney antique motorcycle event in Pa. This event was almost all Harleys and every other antique bike mc made. I think the only real Penton person that showed up was Paul Danik. I got to know Ed pretty well spending 3 days with him. The only bad thing I can say about Ed is he picked the motel we were staying at, It was like a run down motel 6. Its all good. I still miss his news letter he wrote. On a better note on the wall in my living room over the 97 125le anniversary bike is the   no.3 copy of 5 of the original manuscript of the John Penton book signed by Ed and John that was donated to the AMA that was auction off at Vintage Days 2000. That was the year John Penton was Grand Marshal. That will never let me forget Ed.

I raced a Berkshire in 1974 qualifiers, the head was drilled and parts paint marked when it went into tech inspection, there are a lot of bikes out there like this.

Rob, I purchased new Pentons in 74 and 76 and have K.T. that they sent me from both years.
