Penton Talk / stock footpegs
January 21, 2003, 12:08:45 PM
Thanks for the input so far. I probably should have mentioned I did indeed try reversing them, swapping them sise for side, and every other possible combination I could think of. It's got me stumped, you would think one of them would fit - unless neither is for this bike!

Penton Talk / restoration

Thanks Larry, you pointed me in the right direction. I just found a photo on the allcustomfab website that shows the rear sidecover mount/pipe mount. It apparently does double duty as a mount for the side cover (where I don't have a mounting hole) and a rubber "spacer" sitting under the pipe. any other help as to the tiny bracket under the seat where the sidecover sits.

Penton Talk / carb settings
September 02, 2003, 08:34:05 AM
Just rebuilt an original Bing carb from a 1974 250. Where should I set the throttle stop screw and air adjusting screw to get the bike started?  I think I can handle the fine tuning once it's running - but any suggestions are most welcome! Thanks in advamce.

Is anyone running aftermarket or accessory footpegs? If so, which ones and how did you mount them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Penton Talk / chain length
January 31, 2003, 01:58:00 PM
My restored '74 Penton 250 now needs a new chain (#530). Unfortunately, I don't have an original to measure for length. I'm running a 12 front and a 55 rear sprocket combination. Can anyone tell me the correct length for this bike?

Penton Talk / stock footpegs
January 21, 2003, 11:07:39 AM
I have, what I believe to be, a pair of mint condition original footpegs for a 1974 250. Unfortunately, when mounted, they both angle back towards the rear of the motorcycle. Is this normal, am I missing some hardware, or am I simple missing the obvious? Any help would be greatly appreciated - including the use of other pegs.

Does anyone make seat stencil kits so you can put your brand on the back of your seat.

Wanted / For Sale / handlebars

Can anyone suggest a source for a set of stock handlebars for a '74 250? They don't have to be OEM/NOS - just the same dimensions. Thanks.

Penton Talk / restoration
August 26, 2002, 10:15:46 AM
Help! My restoration project is coming slowly- but I've hit a snag. It was a basket case ('74 250), so I have no frame of reference and the manual is of no help. The right sidecover has only one bolt hole in the front - no problem. However, there is an "empty" bracket to the rear of the sidecover (below the pass through pipe) that would make a great attachment point. Is that what it is for (with an additional part) or is it for something else? How about the tiny bracket on the upper frame rail (below the seat) where the same sidecover goes on? What is that for? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Anyone know if there are spoke kits available for both front and rear wheels for a 1974 Penton 250? Thanks for the tips on finding new engine cases - found a great set!
