Thanks Bob,  I was told and thought that I had a 81.  Now I wonder if parts are more available for a 78 than a 81!

I'm looking for a .060 250 piston, I wonder if the one gary has is this?

I have a KTM the number on the frame is 855 08543, the number on the left side of the crank case is 54.30.003.010, the number on the right side of the crank case but smaller is 54.30.004.010,  the clock on the side of the engine case points to 10 and it looks kike it says 77 under the arrow.  The piston has 2 rings but is stamped .060, can any one tell me what year and size I have???

does a 81 KTM 250 piston have one or two piston rings?  The top of my piston is damged and I am trying to figure out if the very top of my piston is comming apart or if it is a smashed ring. I have another ring below this area but the place I am talking about is right near the crown.

I have a 81 KTM 250 that I need a .060 over piston for with rings and the connecting rod bearings at the crank shaft.  I also am looking for a cylinder head for the same engine.  Can any one help me?

I have a lead on a old KTM for a good price.  But I am unsure of the year and model.  The frame number is 855 08543. Can anyone tell me what year this is and where to get parts?
