It is a low number Steel Tank frame though. Perhaps someone close by could fill out the Steel Tank questionaire for it.

Penton Talk / Bettencourt Collection Auction in MASS.
October 14, 2009, 11:46:29 AM
I hate to hear this about Dave. I sold a very nice CZ 360 side pipe to him 7 or 8 years ago and he couldn't have been a nicer guy. Said he was going to display it in his dealership. Even sent me a Bettencourt's jersey (which I still have) and a few NOS Penton parts he had found in his shop. I hope the auction is a huge success.

Tom;
The stickers arrived today. The original was none the worse for wear and the repop looks fantastic. Thanks for the quick turnaround and a great looking sticker. The members of the POG never cease to amaze me.

The only color I have ever seen this sticker in is light blue.

I have one that I believe is an original one. It is a little over 7 inches long and a little over 4 inches tall. What would be involved in duplicating it? I would be happy to volunteer it for that duty but would like to get it back if possible. If someone wants to contact me off list my e-mail is [email protected].

Penton Talk / Rust removal solution
May 01, 2008, 10:40:25 PM
I have not used it yet, but many restorers report good results using Milk Stone Remover. It is an acid product used in the dairy farm business. It can be purchased at a farm supply store.
I have a number of parts waiting to be dipped but just haven't gotten to them.

Wanted / For Sale / 1970 what axles
March 22, 2007, 09:17:38 AM
If you go to the POG home page you will see a selection in the menu for "Steel Tank Project" Click that selection and at the bottom of the page that comes up there will be a selection for image help or something like that. There are about 40 or 50 pictures of various aspects of the steel tanker. Toward the end of these pictures are two showing different steel tank front axle ends. See if either match yours. The parts on steel tankers changed over time so all of your axles may be correct.
Happy hunting

Penton Talk / Sachs Gearbox Adjustments
March 05, 2007, 04:08:52 PM
Dane;
That would be very helpful to us who are not as familier with the Sachs transmission. One question though, you refer to "shimming" the transmission. Is that something that is done during the adjustment procedure or only when the trans is built (or rebuilt)? If you could clarify I, and I am sure some others, would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Penton Talk / New Member Intro - Ernie P.
February 14, 2007, 11:05:54 PM
Ernie;
After I posted I got to thinking that Ernie was not right for Fudd and I finally came up with Wendell. Yes, I raced Wild Acres in Mobile, Boneshaker in Milton, Hub City MX in Hattisburg and others. Cut my dirt biking teeth on Sam's enduros in Chunchula. I was trying to remember how I met Fudd. Did he go to the University of South Alabama? I met a bunch of guys that rode in the woods and in a huge dirt pit near there. Saw (and got to ride)my first Penton there. Also saw my first CZ's Sachs and Bultacos there. Quite exotic bikes for a bunch of college kids. I was a couple of years younger so Fudd might not remember me but give him my regards. I still see some of the guys I met there.

Penton Talk / New Member Intro - Ernie P.
February 14, 2007, 01:45:24 PM
Ernie;
Welcome. I am from Mobile and raced in the region in the early to mid-70's also. We probably ran across each other back then. You didn't by chance have a nickname back then did you? Seems I remember a guy named Ernie Phillips who went by the nickname "Fudd". Have fun with your Pentons.

Penton Talk / V 001 update
January 31, 2007, 10:21:19 AM
Paul;
Thanks for keeping all of us "in the loop". I know I was not the only one wondering exactly what had happened. That is, indeed, great news.

Penton Talk / FIVE - OHH
August 17, 2006, 10:04:53 AM
Bob;
What an amazing coincidence. I turn 50 today as well. Who would have thought that in the relatively small and diverse world of the POG two members would have been born on the same day.
Happy Birthday old man.
