Penton Talk / California wildfires

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your concern.  I have relatives and friends up in the Lake Arrowhead area and have a second home in the area as well so I've been keeping a close watch.  This whole deal is real bad news.  I'm just amazed that more homes were not lost.  I commend the firemen for their efforts fighting the fire as well as the way the evacuations were handled.  My only complaint, and it's a big one, is how the media manipulates everthing and scares the crap out of everyone just to make a buck.  It's beyond pathetic.

Penton Talk / Neck Surgery
May 01, 2007, 10:17:25 AM
Hey Dwight:

The operation should be no sweat.  I had it done last Sept. and I was ready to go home that night.  The worst parts were removing the #%*& catheter (OUCH!!) and having to wear a neck brace for a month.  I felt like one of those bobblehead deals.  The numbness and tingling should have gone away immediately.  As I have been given to understand by both chiropractors and surgeons/doctors alike, this operation is generally very succesful unlike back surgery.  As I found out many people have this problem and are very reluctant to have the surgery, prefering to try to treat it through chiropractic and other more medieval means.  Chiropractic care will work for a time in many cases, but as the condition worsens the pain becomes worse as does the nerve damage due to compression of the spinal cord.  Remember nerves do not regenerate.  I've spoken to a number of people who refuse to deal with the problem and you can actually see the results.  For example, one arm and the palm of the hand can often be visably smaller due to atrophy from nerve damage.  Pretty scary.  That's my $.02.  Let me know how you're doing.

Hi Rob:

My username has nothing to do with hockey LOL.  Among my other addictions I'm a nonwing spint car fan.  Can't stand those barn doors on the roofs!

Try Delrin.  It comes in two flavors.  One is white the other is black.  The black has graphite or a similar substance in it.  It machines well and will handle a lot of pressure.  I've used the black type it for swingarm bushings.  The machinist who referred me to this stuff says alot of machine tools use this instead of brass or other metallic bushings.

Penton Talk / Frame/forks Refinishing

Try taking the frame to a bicycle shop.  They should have a tool to press out the bearing cups from the steering head.  I've done this several times and it worked like a charm.  Hope this helps!

Wanted / For Sale / 175cc Puch Engine

Hi Doug:

Are the Puch motors complete?  I'm restoring a couple and could use 'em.  How much are you asking for them and do you have any other Puch parts available?

Thanks!

Bill
