Wanted / For Sale / Hare Scrambler questions

Clarify another thing for me.  What are the differences between the '73 enduro and MX models?  What were the MX models called?

Wanted / For Sale / Hare Scrambler questions
December 07, 2011, 06:25:30 PM
I ask all the questions because I don't know much about Hare Scramblers.  I want a yellow tank model but with the smaller bullet style tank.  I guess that's 1973 only.  I thought some early 1974 models might be similar but they appear to be all red tanks.  It appears as if the '73 model was the only year to employ the boxy silencer.  If I want a correct, original '73 Hare Scrambler it could have the old style or bullet style yellow tank but only the boxy style silencer pipe, right?

Let's say the '73 pipe is distinctive.

Based upon the comments above, the initial '73 Hare Scrambler is unique in its color and pipe.

I didn't know that!  Did all the yellow tank Hare Scramblers use the big pipe with the ugly silencer?

It may not be so in the case of this particular bike, but some of the very early Yellow Harescramblers had yellow painted over green tanks and even airboxes. Mike

Thanks for the heads up but this one has the wrong pipe and tank.  Wonder what else?

This is on bay, a little rough and looks like tank was painted yellow. If he gets the buy it now price, I will definitely think about selling mine!  Tom

Wanted / For Sale / Want a pair of Hi Point boots
September 08, 2001, 11:51:32 AM
Still looking.  Left a message for Jerry.  MCS has new boots, not the old "Roger DeCoster" HiPoint MX boots of the early 1970's.  The type I'm after have 3 diamonds near the top of the boot; red, white and green.
Thanks!

I couldn't find any so ended up buying new petcocks from Fischer Competition Cycle, Butler PA.  They work great.

Thanks Doug.  These boots were great.  Someday I'd love to find a brand new pair still in the box in somebody's attic!

Wanted / For Sale / '74 250 harescrambler GP tank
March 03, 2001, 05:37:14 PM
I'm looking for a tank for my 1975 Harescrambler.  Is yours the enduro or MX model?  Is it complete with petcocks?  Why was it repainted?  Can you send me an e-mail photo?
Thanks,
Chris
