I still do that even on my modern bikes.

I think I've got a gas cap ring in my shed,I'll try to check this weekend if we don't get snowed under.

How bout leaving the rag in the airbox,putting the filter in anyway,kicking the bike and actually have it fire once,sucking the rag through the carb ? Or taking the expansion chamber off a project bike,fixing a couple dents,brazing a crack, then wire brush, prime and paint and not realise til you try to start the bike that it's packed solid with about five pounds of mouse nest material? Maybe rebuild a Pursang motor the night before a race,almost finished bolting the seat back on ,find a circlip on the floor and aren't QUITE sure if it's an old one you just took out or a new one you dropped? Nope, never done that.

Big Mac if you've got a bottom end you're willing to part with that would be great.If you've got one already apart I'd like the kicker gear and 1st gear from the countershaft [double gear furthest to the left].I don't have a part number list for this motor yet.I'd also like a better kicker shaft and shift shaft.I'll gladly pass along any parts I have to whoever needs something.I like that idea.My e-mail is down til like monday or tuesday,but it's [email protected]. Yup I'll be there.I'm gonna bring the Penton anyway just to see how she runs,I rigged an ugly muffler on there late last night.

This ride is about ten minutes from my house.If they put it on at the same location next year and any of you guys from far away needs a place to crash, I've got a spare bedroom and a comfy couch.

I've got 5 or 6 of those in my shed,anyone want to trade for a good pipe for my 400 ?
