I live in the Carolina Lowcountry, Mt. Pleasant, SC, about 20 miles south of the Wambaw Cycle Trail, which is where the Swamp Fox Enduro was run until about 2004.

 I never raced it, but went out there to watch a few times. My Berkshire had expired and I needed other means of transportation. [xx(]
 I had ridden there with our late friend Thomas Carmichael, tmc3c, here on POG. Myself, and a few of Thomas's old friends still ride out there. It's only about 40 miles now. 20 north loop, and 20 south loop.

Ok, to finish this off, I put the boots on, this time with knee/shin guards & moto pants. The metal shin guards on the boots are sufficient by themselves, but there's not enough room for my knee/shin guards. The boots ride higher up, and the top won't close if I use mine. Just wouldn't work with my shorter legs.[B)] So I've returned them to Revzila, and have another modern pair coming my way. Thanks for the info Pete.

Thanks for the info Pete. I wasn't to sure about the plastic buckles/straps. It would be nice to find a supplier that had some of the older style that you slip the leather under the metal u shaped loop. Give me a report how you feel with the new ones. Thanks again.

I'll admit, I didn't get a lot of riding time in those 10yrs, but now that I have a "50th Aniversary Six Day", I plan on getting out there a lot more.
I can't do anything with them or I can't return them. So no treatment as of yet. Just trying to make myself keep them. They also are a tad higher up the leg than the Tech 4.

So sorry to read this. I had the pleasure and honor to meet Doug at Mid-Ohio, and he made this old kid from the SC lowcountry feel like one of the group. Such a kind and generous person. I had him rebuild my engine from my 72 Berkshire that I have owned since 73. He sent it back looking to good to mount in the dirty old frame, so I have been trying to restore that one, and a 72 Six Day that also has a DW engine in it.

 It looks like you'll have some extraordinary weather for this weekend. Not like the inaugural when I came up there and helped out with my old buddy Thomas. I sure do miss him. Maybe one of these times I'll get out of my honey-do's and get up there again.

Clinta had sent me an email about the bikes, and I've expressed interest in one of Thomas's other bikes, but I haven't been able to connect with her as of lately.

I had also forwarded the email to firstturn(Ron) and rob w(Bob), as they knew TC also. Ron had helped TC with some parts for the 250, and expressed interest in the enduro headlight, which isn't on the bike at the taking of the picture. (It's actually seen on the toolbox in the background of the steel tanker pic. )

So here's what I know:

A 76 250 that he had ridden at one or two of the Reunion Rides.


A 68 Steel tanker 125. I have a photo that is a few years prior to TC's passing. During the resto. I think it is finished.


A second steel tanker that has not been finished. Not sure of the cc.

A Honda XR200 (I think). Not sure about the year.
