Penton Talk / Newby from Across The Pond
April 27, 2014, 04:38:40 AM
Richard, glad to see another early KTM - very few to be seen here. The circa 77 lads are very friendly and an ideal intro to racing. Some clubs in the south (Dartmouth, Bath) also have a circa class. Otherwise some pre-75 clubs will let it in as a 74.5 model. We need pics!
I just started resto of my  400, nothing to show yet except a big heap of rusty bits, but watch this space!

Penton Talk / gripping grips?

Hi all,
I apply a layer of two-sided carpet tape on the bars then spray the inside of the grips and the tape with Gumout carb cleaner. The grips just slip right on and when the Gumout evaporates they are good to go. I've used the same method on my golf clubs for many years with no problems also.
Dave McCullough
is that clutch side or throttle side of the golf club?

I once hurled my big CCM motocrosser at a tabletop jump in a vain effort to keep up with the fast guys. On the take off ramp I hit a bump which sent me off slightly diagonally. By my standards it was a massive jump, and while up there I had plenty of time to realise that both wheels were going to land pretty close to the ropes. It turned out to be rear wheel just inside the ropes, front wheel just outside the ropes....

The spectators loved it.

Penton Talk / 400 tank strap

David, I've traced round a new strap, and will fax it to you tomorrow. I have also emailed some photos to you direct. Looks like an easy job for a saddlemaker.
Good luck!

Penton Talk / New PENTONS

Love the topic!

Put me down for one with the weight and grip of my 300 GasGas and the power of my 520KTM.

And if you can supply one, I don't care what it's called!

Penton Talk / Information on Tyran

Terry
I have the 3 page VMX article, also a 2 page Cycle World ad from '73. I'll send both, but be patient as my scanner is at work and I don't return until 5th Jan.

Now the curious bit- the ad is not for the 125, but for the 250 and 400. Did anyone ever see one of those?!

It's hard to see from the ad, but I'll make a fool of myself by guessing the motor is perhaps a Sprite?

Gentlemen, debate...

Penton Talk / shifters
May 29, 2003, 02:32:13 PM
Tim, there are at least three lengths and types of shifter - they all look pretty much the same until you compare them side by side. The shortest one is next to useless for people with real size feet. Guess how I know...

Mick, I have a manual - e-mail me off list ([email protected]) and I'll copy it for you.

The best air pump is a small one used for mountain bike shocks - it goes to 200psi and includes a gauge and no-leak valve.
Fox make 'em, so do others, any cycle store could help.
