I guess the variable here must be the alcohol content of the fuel we're buying.  I always run either Marathon or Shell 93 octane from the hoosier state  maybe it's a higher mix of alcohol?  Just sharing my experience and yes the conversion "Kit" quote from lectron in Texas was 100.00 shipped straight to Indiana. Bottom line is with the mikuni , issue is solved and i,ve got all the jets already on hand...

I ran  a lectron on my 76 MC-5  for several years
and progressivly noticed the choke was becoming less effective.
After removing the float bowl i found out why.
The inside of the bowl had melted to the point
that the port were the choke tube draw's it,s fuel
was melted shut.
I called lectron and the  float conversion kit for my "old" style carb was going to cost over 100.00  so i just bought a new mikuni for 120.00

They put a rod kit in my CR-480 when I could,nt find OEM and said
they carry such a large inventory of kits that they can match up to most any older 2 -stroke. They've also got a website.

This is CRAZY..
Last weekend a friend that races with me in Our Indiana vintage series Ask me if i'm interested in another Penton. Say,s he'll stop by with it. Yeap,  you guessed it Another Wassell!!  This one runs and is complete minus chain guard. Hopefully I,ll have a few spares after I get a nice one built.

I need to get it to Northern Indiana.
It looked pretty complete and If
i get it picked up soon, maybe i,ll have it ready
For a few events next year.
I watched some sections at Mid-Ohio
and I,m going to need lots of practice.
Never done trials , mainly MX and CC .

Teddy,  After the torrential rains on Friday evening I thought we all were going to be "Stuck in the Mud".
I just missed a tornado by 5 minutes and 3 mi on the way up there.
It was amazing how well the track drained off. The efforts of the Portland Trail Riders was truely impressive in re-routing early in the weekend.Both Saturdays and Sundays races turned out Great.
 The parade lap  with the Penton Brothers and Penton only  race on Sunday was  a great Time.

There was a Great Lakes race over Memorial Day weekend at Liesure Time GP in Medaryville Indiana .( A very nice facility)
  It was run in conjunction with The Indiana Vintage MX Group and only 1 guy showed up from the Great Lakes series.

Teddy,  For now I,m undecided as to whether I'm going to race this bike so I should probably keep the mx pipe for now.
 I've got a lead on a GS pipe ,I,ll see were that goes and take it from there.

Tom,  Wabash Cannonball is one of the oldest mx/scramble clubs in the country.  The track will be vintage friendly , Our IVORME club is based out of there and several members are laying out a special course just for this event.
Exspect partial existing track with some grass mixed in.
As far as Hotels if Fort Wayne is your overnite location, might as well stay at the 69/24 interchange as Wabash is due west on 24 from there.Several of the national chain hotels at that location.  I think there,s a Fairfield inns and several others.
I,m 20 miles west of there. Good luck and see you there.
