Larry is a class act and a true gentleman. Who ever buys this bike will be getting a gem.

Quote from: StephenRead on August 24, 2025, 05:20:49 PMDennis nice find on the GS.  Do you know what manufacturer made the piggyback rear shocks ?  Works Performance maybe ?  Thanks for a reply.

They are Works Performance, I was going to change them out for stock but have decided to go with them.

Race it, it has wear already.

I finally got all the crud cleaned out of the GS6 fuel tank and rebuilt the petcocks. I need to find one of the internal screens for one of the petcocks. I want to take the bike for a ride with it's own tank instead of my hang tank before disassembly.

Since the weather has turned nice I opened the shop and gave my other Pentons a good dusting off and took the Steel Tanker for a ride.

I recently picked up a one owner 1977 250 GS6 that had been sitting for over 40 years. I checked for spark which it had and cleaned the gunk that used to be the air filter and hooked up a hang tank for fuel. About ten kicks and it fired to life and I took it for a ride.

Overall the bike is in really good shape and I had to decide how I wanted to proceed with it. I've never really been a fan of the patina look and although it is mostly stock I've decided to restore/rebuild it. I've had one of these bikes before and did a lot AHRMA events with it and really liked riding it.

I have not gone through a penton in a couple years so this may take a while but will try to keep updates here.

WOW! I had forgotten about this thread I started a long long time ago. I took my steel tanker out for a ride and had a flat tire so while I had it on the lift I replaced the rear fender with one of Roberto's nice reproductions and a correct tail light mount I got off of ebay.

I had Buchannon do front and rear rims and spokes for my Wassell a long time ago and it was $600.

So tragic. Mike was such helping person. Many bikes have traded hands out of his Mid-Ohio swap meet spot.

If the combustion chamber has not been reshaped it will need to be or the compression will be to high and difficult to tune. Nelson (3putt)on this board knows the most about that.

Thanks for the replies, my bike is a 71.

Bob your price is fair but that fender is getting past my polish skill set. Would you mind sharing the dimensions?

Would you have a steel tanker rear fender left?
