Jack Penton has on FaceBook he said:

Jack Penton
This is in no way connected to John Penton or the Penton family. We do NOT endorse or condone this use of our name.

I copied and pasted his statement on several forums when ever I see it come up.

I attended the H/S race Friday but left shortly after, great weather. Next time I need to spend more time there.

FWIW I'm a FB user.  I also consider myself a bit of an introvert. My opinion is 90% of FB is a "Look At Me", "Look what I bought",  "Look what I did" brag board.  It's more about people wanting to get noticed. The other 10% is really very useful; files, relevant communication and resources are readily at hand.  If you can get past and filter out the junk that you don't want to deal with it is very useful.  FB is what you want it to be.

Penton Talk / Re: Carb Help!
May 20, 2022, 07:31:51 AM
Sounds like you may have a air leak causing a lean condition.  While the engine is running and showing the condition you speak of, spray some starting fluid or WD40 around the carb where it goes into the engine.  Don't be stingy with the fluid, really soak down these areas. Spray around the base gasket too. Listen to the engine RPMs.  By doing this, if you have a air leak in the area you introduce fuel to the leak and the fuel richens the mixture which should cause the engine to drop in RPM until the fuel source is gone. You could have a leak at the crank seals also.  A crank seal leak on the clutch side typically results in excessive smoke from the exhaust while if the leak is on the ignition side, it will suck air giving you the condition you described.

I think the club is getting some more woods trail in this year.  If the bike, body and weather is happy I'll be there.

Ditto!

Are there new features we need to know about?

Penton Racing Talk / AHRMA XC Shake Up
December 06, 2021, 09:36:15 PM
No details that I know of.  Typically a MotoFest only has a max of 2 days of XC racing but it would be cool to see three days. Just have to wait and see.

Penton Racing Talk / AHRMA XC Shake Up

Arkansas.

I ride for fun first and points a distant second. I used to have four 2-day events that were GOOD venues all within 3.5 hours of drive time.  I also would try to hit another event or two that required a lengthy road trip.  I was hoping to ride the White Lighting or Unadilla events in this year but neither are on the XC schedule.  Henryetta is now just a single day PVCC event.  Half the events in Arkansas have been cut (and I know that was a AHRMA move).  We have several new events with unproven track records as to the quality of the venue and ride. Like I said before I ride for fun first and I really hate it when I drive a long distance only to be greeted with a poor XC course.  Indicators of a poor course/venue? Lack of trail miles, race held on a modern bike track or has ATV trails, poor layout or over used trails.  It's tuff to read the tea leaves on a new location but if the venue has good reviews by a proven club/organization or seasoned riders that is a big plus.  I guess I had it too good in the past.

Penton Talk / Exhaust builders/parts?
November 12, 2021, 08:02:26 AM
I don't know if Geoff does parts but you may want to check him out at Geoff Morris Concepts (G.M.C.).

http://www.geoffmorrisconcepts.com/

I had George build my YZ465 pipe and he did a nice job. The only thing that was little off was the spring mounts going to the engine. He's in Australia but I found him EZ to work with.  You will have to be patient as he has a long lead time for builds. Yes, plan to drop some big coin.

I found a many pipe builders in the states looking for welders and unable to provide decent services.

The "Member Profiles" are great human interest stories especially when you see how life's events shape the man and the story.  A gem of a read, plus the post card, centerfold and TC interview.  I race in the same class as TC in AHRMA XC events.  It's so hard not to just stop and pull off the track just to watch guys like TC show you how it's done. :)

Al, thanks for your hard work putting all this together.

Penton Racing Talk / AHRMA National finals-Henryetta
November 07, 2021, 06:07:25 PM
What a fun XC course! Good course as it had some of everything except hills. Sand, pavement, grass track, tight woods, open woods etc.  The course had a WFO grass track and several pavement section where I had the KDX tapped out in 6th gear screaming the motor for more. Unfortunately Saturday's race started at 8:00 am and the temps were just a couple degrees above freezing. The good news was only half my class showed up.  The bad news was the ones that showed up were the better riders. With temps in the mid 30s, I only made half a lap before my frost bit plagued fingers went numb.  I had to stop three times to warm them enough to get feeling back so I could ride.

Got to see folks I hadn't seen in years and it was good to reconnect!

Penton Talk / 2021 Barber VMD

I don't think this site can support all the debating on this subject.

Let's move on to Barber or Penton chat...please.

Covid "game?" really?  Tell that to the families of the more than 700,000 people that have lost their lives to the "game."

Great weekend at Barber although a little soft in spots due to a prior weeks rain. Only found one 70-71 Penton tank in the swaps indicating Penton parts have pretty much dried up in the country. Great to see all and nice to be out and about not playing the Covid game. Hats off to Barber and all the volunteers.

Penton Racing Talk / AHRMA National finals-Henryetta

If the weather is decent I plan to attend but it will be on a Jack Penton inspired KDX200.

The Parkers put on one of the finest, if not the best CC races of the series.
