I got these off a 1973 Service bulletin.

Replace con-rod, with crank out of motor:$22.50
Split cases: $45.00
Bore cylinder:  $9.75
Replace cylinder sleeve, bore and hone:  $30.00
All machine work:  $15.00 hr.

I was talikng to the guy at Wheelworks in Cal. He found a price list from '78, spoke set $8.00, and you get a whole wheel with tire for $75.00.

I've got the original reciept for my 72 Six Days I bought from Piasecki's in Toledo around here somewhere I believe it is in the 975.00 dollar range.I've got to find that thing I remember I had Mert Lawill autograph it at raceway park when they ran it, shortly after "on Any Sunday" came out.

1970 Penton purchased 9/17/1970   $700.00 .   For those of you that have been on this site a long time this was the Louk Penton out of Washington State.

I still have the original sales reciept for my 73 250 Honda It was so new, they were not even on the show room floor...I would have to get it out to be sure but I think it was 996.00

Mine was a 1974 Suzuki TC-125 with the dual range (either too high or too low) 4 X 2 transmission. I remember the deal my dad made was $600 cash. Dad bought my younger brother a brand new 78 RM125 for $1000. It took the dealer quite a while, (several months), to agree to that price.

I was a teenager in high school during the early 70's.  I remember working several jobs for several years, all which paid about $1 to $1.25 per hour.  Cutting grass at the swimming pool, working at a greenhouse on weekends and long holiday "vacations" while off school, pulling cut grape vines off the wire at the end of the season, and life-guarding.  My first new motorcycle was a 1971 Yamaha 90 HT-1 purchased for $500, next racing season in 1972 was a used 1970 Penton Berkshire purchased for I think $425, then a brand new 1974 Penton Berkshire purchased for $1000.   I raced with a helmet, lineman's boots, and blue-jeans for several years.   Boy, those were the days.

our first bike, I say that because my younger brother and I bought it together.. It was a 1970 TS 90 with a GYT kit. the guy that owned it siezed it up. I took the top end off and rode my bicycle to the local Susuki shop and bought a new piston for the wopping price of 4 bucks.. We rode the wheels off that bike, the next year I bought a 70 Montesa Cappra 360 and my love affair with big bores began. kind of funny to see this kid.. 5'2 or so on a big bike. It was all that I could do to just keep it on two wheels.. Starting it was another thing.. It ran good so I never had too much trouble... wish I had that bike now!

1970 Scat Cat w/3hp Clinton engine and chrome gas tank. Folding handlbars like the Honda Mini-Trail 50's! Also added an honest to gosh kickstarter to it, replacing the pull start and the thing worked famously!! Bike $179.99 mail-order from the J.C. Whitney catolog, delivered to the front door!!

We moved from Maryland to So Cal in 1962, The track home my parents bought needed landscaping, leveling and fences like all the other new houses.  Neighbors helped neighbors, so we spent quit a bit of time at the dump.  Us kids would always manage to find a motorcycle to drag home. A Sear's Allstate "Puch" and a Moto Morini were my favorites.  The suprising thing is we could always get them working with no money or parts.  Us kids spent hours riding the bikes in the Orange Groves

Here's a clip from 1973.  My first purchased bike was a '72 Suzuki GT380.  I worked all summer at a cycle shop assembling and then reparing bikes to pay for it.  Tricked it out with a set of three expansion chambers. (Note: the bike is still at large in the garage and last ridden 1986).  Still wish I had bought the water-buffalo[V]
