eBay question

Greetings,

   Sometimes when I view an item on eBay, as it nears the end of the auction the time clock will count down, other times it does not. Does anyone know the reason for this?

   I have heard that the eBay rates have gone up drastically lately, any comments???

I avoid Ebay if I can any more and use The Vintage MX Swapmeet page.
Could be a Javascript thing you are talking about. I also try and stay away from dealers with the silly shipping charges.  I have been on ebay since it started and used to buy a lot of stuff. My collection is very complete now so just the odd rare part like Wassal Trial bike foot pegs ect.

Paul, I have done quite a bit on ebay. The fees are getting rediculous, (for SELLERS). There are still plenty of deals for buyers, if you have patience. For the buyer, I think it is a wonderful source for hard to find parts. You know what your willing to pay and how much it's going to cost to ship. If it doesn't work out, you wait for the next one.

I think the feature you are describing is what eBay calls an "animated countdown". It's a promotional tool they try to sell when you are creating your listing and so it will not be seen on every auction. The eBay auction listing prices have gone up quite a bit. Not only that but since eBay bought out Paypal they stick it to you twice if you're a seller by collecting a fee for the auction and then collecting a fee on the transfer of funds. Wonder what scheme they will dream up next to get into our pockets ??

Paul it could be a javascript runtime error where microshaft wants to run an application as indicated by a yellow banner at the top of your browser. The seller fees on eBay are steep which is why I use Craigslist more so. eBay owns 25% of Craigslist so at some point there will be fees associated with its use. When buying in a category on eBay I scroll down the left side for buy it now, lowest price w/ship, or free ship.

I use to buy more from eBay but a lot of times, the shipping charges are way out of line and it becomes the deal killer.
