Does anyone know if there are any heavy duty bulbs on the market?  The rear bulb on my KTM keeps breaking the filaments on long rides.  I did a 75 mile enduro this past weekend, and when I checked the bulb on Monday, they were both shot.  The bulb is rubber mounted in the fixture to help with the bouncing around, but it doesn't seem enough? Any suggestions?  Thanks, James

James this is not a perfect answer for you but Vance Smith has rigged led lights in his 12v motoplat rewinds.  I'd think they are more durable by far.

YES LED is the way to go!  They make LED lights that fit old style plugs.  The physical sizes are the same as the standard filament bulb, so it is an easy replacement.  Thanks for the idea!  James

James,

If you were running 6 volt bulbs, that was probably the cause of burn out.

We use to run 12 volt bulbs back in the day, they don't burn out due to excess current like the 6 volt bulbs.  They were dimmer, but they worked.  LED's should work with no modification.
