Rain Man

That was imported and sold as A Sachs 125.  I'm assuming here, that these are kinda rare. They started importing them as a DKW in what year, I'm not sure of that either. 70 or 71?

Question: Is there a special class for this bike at VMD, or would it be put in with just another 125CC Vintage class.

Another question: I am restoring a 1973 Husky WR/CR 250 to bring along to VMD in 2011. I have not raced Vintage MX and would like to know if this bike qualifies for Saturdays racing?
The reason I ask is because I do the Trials on Sunday and am not sure where the Husky fits in and am unfamilliar with the different classes.
Obviously, I could email the AMA, but I saw some of you folks race; tooclose, for one and thought someone from here could help me out.
Thanks, Gordon

Here's the 2010 schedule. http://amavintagemotorcycledays.com/schedule/

Gordon,

Your Husky would race Vintage 250 which was a Saturday race at VMD.  The Sachs motored 125 has to race with Vintage 125 bikes like the Elsinore at VMD but races with Classic 125 in AHRMA which is 1971 and older non-reed 125's.  It is a bad mount for VMD and would be at big disadvantage.

Thanks Larry. That's the information I was looking for.

Folks,
I believe sachs imports in 1971 became DKW.  In 1971, DKW had a stronger frame tube behind the rear seat, the weakest point in that frame design up to 1970 while DKW was noticed written on the tank despite being the same size and shape.
