Greetings,

We had a very nice gathering last night for the POG Family Night meeting.

We are extremely fortunate to have the use of the KTM facilities for our meetings. The kitchen, meeting room and all of the provided amenities are truly appreciated, THANK YOU KTM...

A sincere thanks also goes out to all of the folks who provided such a wonderful array of delicious food items, if we had been snowed in we could have lasted several months.

Thanks also to Matt Weisman and his brother-in-law for bringing in a portion of their miniature steam engine collection for us to see, they explained a lot about the various engines and then ran them on compressed air.  The display and explanation of the steam engines led John to tell of his grandfather Henry Penton and his involvement in the ship building industry in the steam era.  John also explained how one of his grandfather's neighbors was a guy named Henry Ford and how Henry Penton did some casting of larger parts for Henry Ford, such as flywheels for his internal combustion engine. Henry Ford wanted Henry Penton to get more involved with him, possibly as a partner, with his internal combustion engines, but Henry Penton was much more interested in steam power.

Mike Rosso deserves a big thanks for setting up the overhead projector so that we could all view the John Penton movie clip, Jack then provided some very interesting information about the project, we then watched the clip once more....:)

Many more folks deserve thanks and we do appreciate everyone's contribution.  There is however one group of attendees who deserve our most sincere thanks, that would be the Penton Family.  I am almost at a loss of words to describe how very fortunate we are to have John Penton and his Family take us all in as if we were relatives. "Back in the day" when you showed up in Amherst you weren't shuffled off to a motel at the end of day when the work was completed, you were taken home with one of the Penton Family members to spend the night and what a treat that was, they are still taking us all in today, and it is still a REAL treat......

THANK YOU John Penton and the Penton Family from all of us.

Paul

I want to make this additional post and include the Leimbach Family with my comments about the Penton Family in my original post.  Dane Leimbach's Mom, Pat Leimbach, is John Penton's sister as many of you know.  The Leimbach Family also played host at their farm to visitors of the Penton facilities "back in the day", myself included. It was great to have Dane's Mom Pat in attendance last night along with Dane.
