What is the best way to remove old decals from a fiberglass tank?

Have you tried a heat gun to soften it up? Just be careful and keep the gun moving.

Try WD-40. I heard it loosens them up and won't hurt anything.

I just took the decals off an old tank. I used a heat gun to peel them off and then used Goo Gone to clean up the residue. It worked great.

I just removed the old decals from an original 73 Jackpiner tank.  Auto paint stores sell small decal removal wheels that you put in a drill.  They are made of a white rubber, like erasers.  Gentle pressure while spinning against the decal will take it right off and not hurt the finish.  Couldn't believe how easy.

Thanks guys!  I too use to use the old fingernail scraping method, but it takes forever!!  James
