New to the group but have been lurking here for a while and now joined up...I have had a few six days before and also race a 74 CR250M Elsinore and now sorting out a 72 Penton with Sachs 6B for Classis 125...anyway my frame has numerous cracks and a few have been repaired but I also have a nice 73 frame that I believe is a hi-breather if Im correct?...is there any advantage or disadvantage to this frame versus my 72 frame as to the amount of air going into the airbox then to the motor? any mods that are necessary if so?...Thanks for any and all help

Ken,
Great to have you on the site.  I see you on Mark's a lot.  I have used both frames and have no favorites.  The air boxes are different since the '73 get its air from under the tank and the '72 get the air from under the seat.  If I can help you just let me know.

Will I need to use a 73 airbox or can I modify my 72 one to match?..the 73 one I have is rough!

I would try and use a '73.

My 73 will need glass work...whats the difference just the opening on the top?

firstturn

Yes and some of them had different mounting and fit in the frame.

Ok,I will check the mounting and if it works I will mod the top...Thanks and this site is GREAT!...any provisions to post pics of our projects?...love to see all the Pentons.

Ken, welcome to the POG,

i to see your posts on Marks page as well,

the high breather air boxes are quite comon on Ebay,

IMO, if you have a true "non" high breather air box it would be a shame to cut that one as they are much harder to come by, the non high breather air box is basicly a one year only part !!

i am sure someone here has a good used high breather box to sell if you can't get yours back in useable cond.

OK, hope this helps,

From what I tell,72 was a non hi-breather and 73 was a hi-breather?..I have both airboxes and guess I will repair the 73,it needs glass work but luckily it wont be visible due to my fiberglass skills!...also can I use my 72 swingarm on the 73 frame? I dont like the funky kickstand mount and dont want to cut it off,Thanks

They are  2 1/2 to 3 1/2 lbs lighter for the first 71-72 CMF frames than the HB frames. Depending on who's scale you use.
