Howdy folks,

I hope many of you will make plans to join us for the 3rd Annual Carolinas White Lightning Cross Country Classic over the weekend of March 19 and 20.

This year's event will be rounds 2 & 3 of the AHRMA / Penton Owners Group National Cross Country Championship Series.

This year's event will be held at Marvin Grant's farm, site of the annual Armenia Dual Sport Ride, which for going on seven years has served as a benefit The Armenia United Methodist Church.

Proceeds from this year's Carolinas White Lightning Cross Country Classic will also benefit the church.

The event is being hosted by ISDT veteran Greg Holder, and the course is being laid out by Holder and Grant.

Grant is a 68 year old retired Civil Service Production Superintendent who worked many years in the shipyards of Charleston, South Carolina.  Marvin has been involved in the off-road motorcycle community and the Family Riders Motorcycle Club for over 37 years, working such great events as the Swamp Fox Enduro, the Swamp Fox Dual Sport Ride, the Broxton Bridge Enduro, the Broxton Bridge Dual Sport Ride, and even as a volunteer course worker at the 1994 ISDE at Zink Ranch near Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1994. Marvin presently work part time as a trail consultant specializing in single track trail layout.

Grant's farm offers diverse terrain ranging from clay hills, sandy bottoms, tight trails in hardwood groves, even tighter trails laid out on countless acres of planted pine trees, and delightful grass track.

We hope you all will make plans to attend this year's event.

Just shoot me an e-mail if you would like me to send you the event flier in .pdf format.

The 6-1/2 mile course for our 3rd Annual Carolinas White Lightning Cross Country Class is shaping up.

Greg Holder, Marvin Grant and I will be working on the course some more this coming Monday, February 21.

I will get some photos and try to figure out how to upload them here.

I hope you all are making plans to attend this, Rounds 2 and 3 of the AHRMA / Penton Owners Group National Cross Country Championship Series.

Again, proceeds from this event will benefit the Armenia United Methodist Church of Chester, South Carolina.

Y'all come!

Howdy folks,

If you would like to check out a video sampling of the type of terrain and trails that will be offered at the Carolinas White Lightning Cross Country Classic, go to:  http://www.dualsporttv.com/

There you can view two videos shot by Michael Hough during last year's Armenia Dual Sport Ride.

Our event, rounds 2 and 3 of the AHRMA / Penton Owners Group National Cross Country Championship Series, is being held at the same site, utilizing many of the same trails.

Enjoy!.....and make plans to attend over the weekend of March 19 and 20.

Happy trails,

Al, I sent my money in so I am ready to ride. Looks like we will have a great place to race!! What's the camping look like? I plan to come down Friday evening and camp Fri.-Sat. night. Later, Gene

Gene,

There is plenty of room for camping at the site, but no power or water.  We will have fresh portajons on site.  At the annual Armenia Dual Sport Ride held there, many folks camp there on Saturday night before the Sunday ride.  Come early and pick out a nice shady spot.  The Grant's farm is a beautiful place.  You'll love it.

Happy trails,

Al Roof

Howdy folks,

It has come to my attention that mapping data for the address of our 3rd Annual Carolinas White Lightning Cross Country Classic is incorrect.

Google Maps, Mapquest, Garmin, etc, places our staging area of 2363 Armenia Road, Chester, SC a couple of miles Northeast of the actual location.

The site of our event, on the Grant family's farm is actually locate 1.5 miles Southwest of Highway 97 and 1.0 miles Northeast of Highway 9 on Armenia Road.

We surely hope to see a bunch of P.O.G. members there for rounds 2 and 3 of the AHRMA / Penton Owners Group National Cross Country Championship Series.

Happy trails,

Al Roof, Volunteer P/R Guy
