I need new shocks for my 1979 KTM 420, I found some at ONE STOP MOTO but they don't say much about them. They show a set of 13 series shocks with standard duty springs, around $223.00. Has anyone tryed these? Also I have a set of progressive 12 series shocks with 1389-90 springs. They worked OK on my old Rokon but are to weak for my 77 Penton MC-5, the shocks work OK, but what springs do I need. After my heart problems I can only do a trail riding. Thanks for any help, Dave

Dave, I hope you see this...if it does you any good this late. The 13 series worked ok om my 420 for trail riding. I believe your 1389 springs are only 90 lbs.  WAY too soft for a 420 set up. I think you would need at least 1365 springs which are 120/170 progressive.  But are the 12 series shocks too short.  You need at least 15 inch shocks for that bike.

I have an old dealer Progressive catalog.  Email me at [email protected] if I can be of further help.

Aren't the 420 shocks in the neighborhood of 16 1/2" long? I have a set of Vintage Works shocks on my Husky that I intend to lower, but I think they are close to 17" long and have the built in finned reservoirs. Mike

Mike & Mike, My 420 came with 15 1/2" shocks, I still have them but don't realy know who made them. They could be rebuilt if I new what brand they are. I have a new set of Progressives coming from Onestopmoto set up with heavy duty springs so I'm OK on my 420.  The 12 series shocks I was talking about are 13 1/2" and put them on my 77 MC-5 Super-Moto and found them to be way to weak. I had them on my CZ-400 and Rokon 340 and they worked great. I was thinging they were the same shocks Progressive listed for the MC'5 but with heavyer springs, my be 1365 springs is what I need? They don't have to be all that heavy for road work. Thanks Dave
