Well said. My thanks to you and all the Veterans. I was priviliged to stand before a group of 1st thru 4th grade students yesterday at the morning Flag raising ceremony at the Wirt Co Primary center. A lineup of Veterans including WW2, Korean, Vietnam and Middle Eastern Vets. When Miss Jessica Lynch, US ARMY - Iraq POW  stood before the students and introduced herself the cheers and tears flowed together. I was priviliged to stand with real American heroes. Thanks again to all the Veterans. To all of you on watch around the world right now, Thank you. We are praying for you.

My Father, SFC John O. Hubbard, USA-Ret, Korean and Vietnam Vet, died last year 3 days after my birthday, and was buried on Veterans Day 2010.  He was a man's man...married to my mom for 56 years...A great father, a great son, a great uncle, a great grandfather, and a true soldier's soldier...His influence and presence in my life loomed (and still does) large.

I too have had the privilege to serve (and continue to do so) and I am eternally grateful for the men and women who have made (and continue to do so), the ultimate sacrifice for this nation.

I know there are several of you on POG that have served or who currently have family members in the service.  I want to say thank you to each and everyone of you.  Continue to support the troops.  Just as much as we need them, they need you too.

V/r,

John

PS -- Happy Veterans Day to you Mr. John Penton, Tony Friedel, and Kip Kern.

In Flanders Fields
by John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies grow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky,
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead; short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe!
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high!
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Thank you so very much Grandad Lohr and dad...
