Hi,
I've got the bottom end of my 72 Jackpiner done except for putting on the clutch, but I have a couple of questions.  I have followed the manual [8D]with no problems so far.  I just don't have any KTM/Penton engine experience to draw from, especially since I am starting with a project engine (complete, but a project).

Question 1:
Is there any way to test the shifting mechanism before installing the clutch hub?

Everything rotates smoothly, but since the clutch was locked up when I took it apart, I want to test everything before I actually put it back together completely.

Answer:  I went back and looked at it and figured out the shifter pawl was not properly engaged onto the shift drum.  Once I popped it down onto the proper spot with screw driver, it shifts fine up and down the gears.

Question 2:
How much chance of oil leaks along bottom back of the engine cases?

The lower rear allen bolt does not get very tight, it seems like the threads might be on their last legs. [xx(]

Should I be concerned and looking to replace re-thread prior to anything else?

Thanks
Rob
