Midwest folks, Curtis Harper is again hosting Labor Day weekend racing at his place in Greenwood, MO, about 30 minutes east of Kansas City, as part of the Missouri Vintage Motocross series, MOVMX.  On-site primitive camping opens up  Friday afternoon with vintage, post-vintage and modern hare scrambles on Saturday and a full slate of vintage, post-vintage and ultima motocross racing on Sunday.  You can find full info on race schedule, classes, fees, etc. at //www.movmx.com
Curtis (although he doesn't race a Penton!) is a great supporter of vintage racing in Missouri and you are guaranteed a fun weekend if you can make it.  He and his dad, Mike, and mom, Alice, run Harper's Moto-Guzzi on Stringtown Road in Greenwood, MO and you can google that for directions, gps, phone number, etc.
We had a work day out there last weekend and laid out the hare scrambles course which will be fun for all ages and skill levels.  As a bonus, there will be a modern bike hare scramble following the vintage stuff on Saturday, so you can bring your modern bike and get more riding in if you like.  Curtis did a video of the course which you can see below:

The motocross course is natural terrain and totally vintage friendly...no doubles, triples, huge air or anything like that!  It is a fun course which has gotten two thumbs up from the likes of Jim Pomeroy and Brad Lackey who have both been there in the past.
Like I said, Curtis and his family put on a great weekend of riding and there are other goofy activities going on plus parking lot swap meet and bikes for sale.  Check out the website for the full scoop.
Hope to see you there!

Hey Andy,
I'm hoping we get some rain before the weekend, otherwise Curtis may pull the plug.  Not enough water in the farm pond to keep the dust manageable and not enough liability insurance in the world to justify racing in white-out conditions!
Assuming we get rain, Saturday is for sure.  Sunday I'll have to see...father-in-law got tickets to that hot rod show at the speedway.

Update...as of today (Thurs) Curtis has pulled the plug on the Saturday activities but is hoping for enough rain to hold the motocross on Sunday.  Best bet is to keep an eye on the MOVMX website for the latest info...and keep your fingers crossed!

As of Friday night, full slate of vintage and post-vintage mx on tap for Sunday.  Saturday scrambles cancelled, but we are thankful for the rain we're getting.  Been a long dry summer!

CANCELLATION NOTICE!!!!  Feast or famine here in the midwest.  Went from too little rain to too much rain.  Curtis Harper has had to pull the plug on the whole weekend now.  Got so much rain at the track that he can't get any equipment in there to work it up right so he had no choice but to call everything off.  He usually has the end-of-the-season event at his place in the fall, so there's still an opportunity for some racing later on.
Had over 6 inches of rain at my place since yesterday afternoon and it's still coming down, although tapering off a bit.  Good day to work on something in the garage!
