Have the good fortune to have been lent the first 8 Episodes of "What's in the Barn" by a good friend, the show that has Dale Walksler and his son Matt traveling the country searching out old cycles. I know that some of you have visited their museum in Maggie Valley, NC, Wheels Through Time.

Anyhow, these are really neat to watch, possibly some of you have seen the show on TV, here in Mars that channel is unobtanium....at least for a cable TV cheapskate like me :)

Through the kindness of the owner of these DVD's we will be showing them on occasion at POG meetings when time allows, but wanted to give a shout to you guys that if you can catch any of them on the tube they are pretty good, even Judy has enjoyed watching them as the snow flies outside. When we visited Dale at his museum a few years back while picking up a Steel Tanker in Asheville, he made us feel like family, and from what I have heard that is how he treats everyone.

Here is a link to some clips from the show

Paul, Thanks for putting the info about What's in the Barn on the forum.  Dale is one of the coolest guys you would ever want to meet.  I've been to Maggie Valley twice and was always treated like I was someone special.  The last time there I gave Dale a John Penton  autographed Penton cap.  Dale was so tickled that he put the cap in one of the show cases and had photos of our daughter Rhea, me and Dale with the cap put up on Face Book. Later this year we ran into Dale and entourage at Waseon, Ohio.  He was there to buy, show and asset his son who was going to race one of the old dirt trackers they had brought with them. Take time to go to the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley NC.  You won't be disappointed.  Amherst Paul  :D

Wheels Through Time and the Barber Museum are "must visit" stops on any southern tour.
WTT is located in the heart of the Smokey Mtns in Maggie Valley NC...just a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. This area is famous for it's great motorcycling roads.
Before retiring back to PA, I lived in N GA for 15 years and was able to visit WTT on a number of occasions.
Dale is a great guy, and takes pride in actually taking his bikes out...no matter how valuable they are...and firing them up. I once admired his Crocker parked outside on a nice day...he then fired it up and blasted up and down his gravel drive way, broadsliding to a stop with a big grin!. Not many owners of $250k bikes are willing to do that!

Last time I was there, he had a great display of old (maybe 30's or 40's...) Jack Pine enduro bikes...I swear they looked just as though they had just crossed the finish line in Lansing.
If you go, pick up a copy of his reprinted articles about Oscar Lentz and the old Jack Pine lay-out crew...and how it was done back in the day!

Amherst Paul,

So THAT is how Dale got the idea for the show, you must have told him about the POG meeting feature " What's in your garage", which I believe started when Mr. Novak started telling us about the Penton he had in his kitchen, yes, that explains it  [}:)]

Richard,

Curious to know what part of Pa. you are in, I am just north of Pittsburgh. Maybe you will be going to the York, Pa swapmeet!

I went through there twice but it was closed both times, will get back that way to see it for sure.  Have talked to Matt about their "28" Harley JD as I'm working on one myself and I can't think of a better place to find an original to look at for my restoration process. My sis lives in Greenville SC so it is close.  Want to tour the BMW museum in Greenville as well and take the factory tour also.  A lot to do in that area of the country, heck, Randy Hawkins is close too!
