Working on a 72 Jackpiner engine.  Need help identifying right center case parts.  In the back upper right is a hole where the shifting shaft exits.  In the Spare Parts Manual 004 (pg 3), there are two parts labeled "17" suggesting both parts are 51.30.057.000 - sheet metal plug for shifting shaft?  Whatever was there are missing from my case.  I suspect the part closest the case might be a seal.  If I am correct, is that seal BA 14x22x4?

Thanks, Pentonpal

PentonPal,

The early Jack Piners had 2 different style shifting shafts, one with splines on each end so you could shift from the right or left side and a slightly shorter shaft that only exited the left side of the case.  When using the shorter shaft a sheet metal plug is inserted into the hole you are describing.  When using the longer shaft a 14X22X4 seal ring is placed in the same hole.

Thanks,

Kevin
