I'm guessing most of you already knew that the piston spends the majority of it's time hanging out at the bottom of the cylinder, but I wasn't.  When the topic came up, my electically-oriented understanding of sine motion and rate of change wouldn't let my brain wrap itself around the concept.  Those connecting rod angles seized me up, and until I saw the graphs at the linked site, it just didn't compute.  A couple spins of this cutaway would have lit up the bulb pretty quick, though.
