530 chain width

Can any one tell me where to get a 530 chain for my Jackpiner all the 530 chains are to wide mind is 3/4 not 1" like most 530 chains?

I am curious.  How do you tell the difference between 520 and 530.  I need a new chain.  Rear sprocket looks pretty good.  I just want to make sure I get the right chain for it.

Check out the thread that Steve posted. You have to measure the thickness of your sprocket. You can run 530 chain on a 520 sprocket, but not the other way around. They used to run 530 chain on 520 sprockets in the thought that they would clean themselves of mud and crud in bad conditions. The big thing with chain, no matter what the size, don't over tighten it. Set you chain tension with the suspension bottomed out or as near it as you can get with someone bouncing on the seat. Set your chain guide to take up the slack on the return side. The spring loaded chain tensioner is thegreatest invention since sliced bread! Just get the chain on there, get the wheel aligned, set the tensioner and guide and forget about it. Just clean and lube it. O-ring or regular chain. Chain does not stretch, like we think it does. It gets longer when the pins and the rollers wear and create extra clearance that accumulates through the length of the chain, and then the chain get longer like it is stretched. That is the main reason to not over tighten a chain, because when the suspension moves, the chain gets tight and if too tight causes excessive wear, or may even break. In my mind, proper wheel alignment is the key to long chain life along with having enough slack.

Thanks all for responses.  Any info on sprocket thickness difference between 530 and 520?  I did initial search, but I am not good at these forum searches.  I will figure out which chain I have and go from there.  If I have a 520 chain and it seats well, safe to assume I have 520 sprockets?

Yes, a 520 chain will not slip down onto a 530 sprocket. Mike

I think 520 chain is roughly 1/4" between side plates and 530 is 5/16", just going by what I got in my head. Significant difference and can't be confused. Some sprockets are marked with the chain size also along with the tooth count.
