Does anyone have a damaged beyond repair cylinder they would be willing to part with? I have a 125 with two large chunks of the fins broken out and I would like to try to weld on some replacements.

One possible solution is this cylinder/head treatment.  Unfortunately, I can't locate the photo's of the ones Bob Wardlow did/does.  This may even be one of them..... [:p]

I would rather have the whole cylinder to practice on. My cylinder has two broken fins. Of course they are in the middle, the 3rd and 4th from the top on the right front. They are missing all the way from the exhaust to the vertical web half way back down the side. There is a good 1/4 inch of fin left near the cylinder to weld to. I will probably have to cut off the fins in the way to start the repair and then put them back on. This means I will end up welding back on four fins. Five minute job at least. The only other way to make this repair would be to completely build up the fins out of weld and then grind them to shape. The cylinder measures Std now so I want to try to fix it.

Hi Rick,
Here is another way for you to fix your problem. Why not buy a bored out cylinder with good fins on ebay or a fellow POG member cheap. Remove your standard cylinder liner from your damaged cylinder and install it in the cylinder with good fins. I hope this will help you fix your cylinder. Lee Buffenmyer
