KTM ID question

New POG member here with a million questions, looking to revive a seven year old thread! First, I cannot express how great it is to have a group of people this dedicated to these awesome bikes.

I found a 1979 KTM 250 GS80 locally in good (I think original) condition. The frame is 901 01923 (1979 January) and 8-5420764 (1978 250cc) is it possible the 78 engine would be put in an early 79 bike? Also, the wiring was a little funky. I have the "user's handbook" with a wiring diagram but does anyone have photos or resources to switches, connectors, wires, etc. Thanks for any help.
