Bing Carb

74 125 6-days and want to rebuild the carburetor. Its running erratic and the float bowl is leaking, etc.  Is the only place to get rebuild kits from the Bing website ?  Any tips for properly rebuilding these Bing Carbs ?

Even a brand new Bing leaks, I think the one on my 100 leaks more gas than the engine uses. The most important parts to change are the needle and the needle jet (the slide needle, not the float needle). A worn needle/needle jet is almost certain to be the cause of your erratic running.

Bings are simple to rebuild.  Completely disassemble,soak in a good carb cleaner like Gunk Hydro Seal, parts wash good and blow out all orfices with air, install new bowl seal, choke seat, set floats and air screw and thats about it. CIAO

I'm ordering the rebuild kit with gaskets and float needle from Bing tomorrow.  Also they offered the needle jet and jet needle (not sure if these are standard sizes or what ??) Should I get any other components or ??

I need some help with the carb adjustments - any procedure for the air screw adjustment ?  Also, what notch is used on the 125 for the needle jet ?

Disassembled the bing 84 28mm and cleaned it up. the housing looks damaged in a few places and the slides are well worn.  I want now to get a new carb but a replacement bing is $440 which is just crazy when other carbs are so much less.  IS there another carb that will replace the bing 84 ? I'd rather have a manual choke on the carb than the cable operated one anyway. Please let me have some comments here.

Do a search here for mounting a Mikuni carb on a 125 Six Day. Lots of guys have been down that road already and you can find out what size and approximate jetting. A call to SUDCO will also get you what you need in the way of a Mikuni and they can send it to you properly jetted. I'm sure they have a pretty complete web site . I can deal with Bing carbs as long as they are in decent shape, but you have already found out the major draw back of the brand these days, and that is price of a w complete carb and parts can be pretty high also.

Last couple of times I've called Sudco for carbs or parts their phone rep said they don't sell to the general public. I've bought my last couple of new Mikunis off Carb Parts Warehouse with good luck. These have been for Yamahas - never done a Mikuni on a Penton.
