The AHRMA NA Region XC Series wrapped up with a great final event at Johnny B's down in New Windsor MD on 10/17.

As mentioned a number of times, this is a great 10 race series with separate races for Vintage (74 and earlier) and Post-Vintage (75 to 94) bikes.
The good news is Penton riders took 2 season class wins:
> Hank McCurdy rode his 76 GS6 175 to a win in the Historic 200 Intermediate class.
> Fast Dave Smeal rode a Penton 250 Harescrambler to a win in the Vintage 50+ Expert class.

The not so good news?
Well...there just aren't enough Pentons...or KTM's for that matter...out there on a regular basis.
Bill Haschak rode his 73 Jackpiner a number of times...and Bob Close took a class win on his Jackpiner at the co-sanctioned NA/NE Region event at Irish Valley.
But there weren't too many others...

The 2016 Season will kick off in April. Plenty of time to get your Penton, KTM, or almost ANY old beater dragged out of the barn and prepped for some great races.

Keep an eye on the web sites...they'll be updated early in 2016 with the new schedule.

And full disclosure...before anyone asks...No...I didn't ride my 69 Steel Tanker...
But I did ride Vintage class Husqvarnas...

You are absolutely spot-on that the NA XC series is one of the best run - if not THE best run - cross country series out there, Richard.  I feel bad that I did not put in some mileage to get to a few more rounds considering the effort that I know Dave K. and the guys put into their weekends.  And they feed you for free half the time - what is not to love?

Great to hear a GS showed up for the Historic class.  I might need to bring my MC175 down to Irish next year and see if I can keep up with Mr. McCurdy.  And it's always a dogfight with those Bell brothers (have I got that right?) on their souped up Honda SLs (at whatever displacement they have them bored out to ;))

That's the Bennett brothers...Randy and Rick.
And they sure know how to prep those 125 Honda motors.

Coming from the north...make sure to consider the season opener at Rocket Raceway...one of the best courses of the year!

Rocket - been there and done that!  It's a great course with a helluva hillclimb if they are still using it (with the option not to use it also...).  But - yikes- that was a six hour drive.  Barely made it in time.

Of course six hours is a walk in the park for Greg Barrett. THAT man puts in some mileage.
