I have an old friend who I am assisting in getting his Penton 125 running again.  It has been setting since 1976.

We are down to the tires and he would like to put new Metzlers on it but has determined they are not available.  What is the recommended tire manufacturers for his bike?

It is a rider and not to be used in competition.

He wants to buy the tires instead of me doing that chore.  Any suggestion I can pass on to him.

Thanks for your information.

I think I saw Metzlers on Ebay for under $190 for set 21 front and 18 rear but I think the widths is Metric but comparable to 3.50 front and 4.00 rear. You can check this out if you like . Good luck with that bike, sound good .

3.50 front is too big. Someone will chime in with some recommendations for a 125. I used Pirelli MT16 on my 250's but the rear is probably too big. the front 300-21 is perfect. Mike

I run a Kenda 257D....3.00x21 front and 3.50x18 rear on my 72 Six Day. You need to be able to spin the rear tire in certain situations and a 4.00 rear is usually to big to do that....just my opinion.

I use Duro 3.00 x 21 front and 4.10 x 18 rear they really hook up on my 75 Berkshire. Lee

The Metzler MC6 is a very nice tire. Now days they are made in Brazil instead of Germany. The nobby pattern is more aggressive however so they don't have the look of the originals. For a high quality and original look try the Pirelli's MT16 that Michael mentioned. If your running a chain guard both the Pirelli's and the Metzler will rub against the chain guard. You can trim the large outer lugs on the right side a bit to create enough clearance. The Duro's should fit without any trimming. I run all these tires on my bikes so it boils down to individual preference.

I'm wrong......my rear is a 4.10x18, not a 3.50 as I stated. Sorry
