There is no official silver color, KTM went to a local supplier and said "give me whatever silver you have the most of" so it was not always identical, but very similar. Many people have used substitutes and I'm sure they will post what they used.

I have just recently started using Duplicolor etching primer, DAP1690 which works well on many different surfaces and many different types of top coats. In the past I have mainly used the engine ceramic paint DE1650 aluminum color clear coated with DE1636, but recently have been using the Lacquer DAL1679 silver metallic clear coated with DAL1695 Lacquer, which is not as much humidity and application time sensitive as the ceramic paints, and very close in color for both the frame and engine components, and much easier to touch up if needed. I am looking forward to trying this clear coat which is much more durable than even the Laquer clear and is highly recommended for a durable professional finish that is gas resistant even on gas tanks from what I have read. It is SprayMax Urethane 2K clear coat http://www.repaintsupply.com/pd_2_part_2k_aerosol.cfm Mike

I've used the spraymax 2k urethane clear on top of regular rattle can paint and it looks so professional and is very durable and fuel resistant because it has a built in bladder of hardner that you release when ready to paint. It's only good for a day after you activate it though.
