Jumped on the bike the other day, cranked her up, grabbed the clutch, popped her into first and she tried to take off with the clutch still engaged. I have a new cable and expected to adjust it after some stretch, so I adjusted back according to the manual and it didn't fix it. Any ideas?

Hi,
Welcome to the POG site. This is a fairly common issue after the bike sits for awhile without being started. The problem is the clutch plates get dry and stick together and in most cases will free themselves if you are able to ride the bike around while cycling the clutch lever. If they don't free up themself, then you'll have to pop the clutch cover off and do it manually. Best way to try and keep this from happening is to run the bike more often if it's not going to be ridden regularly. If you can't start/ run the engine regularly, then might try to cycle the clutch lever several times every few weeks while spinning the engine through a few cycles with the kick starter. This should keep all the clutch plates well oiled and hopefully keep the plates from sticking together. Hope this helps and once again welcome to the POG site.
