I'm in need of a couple of chain sliders to cushion the chain rub across the top of the swing arm. These are for some modified 73-74 CMF Pentons. I've tried a few aftermarket solutions that I'm not happy with. I would like to come up with something that is more durable and would hold up well in a vintage racing environment. I'm certain that several of you have already "skinned this cat." I have some ideas in mind and thought I could draw it up in 3D and have some machined. Before I do all that is there anything readily available that works well? Thanks in advance for any help / recommendations.             - Cal

Well...a "poor-man's" solution that isn't pretty but works fine for me on 3 different vintage bikes that I race in XC...

I pick up a black plastic trash can from Lowes or Wallymart.
Cut strips of plastic to fit...zip tie in place on swing arm far enough back that the chain will not cut through the zip-tie...
Also provides a good supply of plastic for mud flaps...inner fenders, etc.

Again...NOT for resto-quality work...but just fine for real-world use.

Do you have an old Preston petty fenders? I would think strips of that would be pretty durable.
