INSTALLING SEAT COVER

When gluing a seat cover on a fiberglass base I understand the 3M spray adhesive but in the stretching do you use clamps to help hold?  Thanks for any pointers here.

Hi Larry, I use clamps when I do my seats. Give the adhesive plenty of time to set before you stretch and attache the cover on the base. Use clamps especially along the back of the seat. I usually leave them in place for 24 hours to allow everything to fully cure. Good Luck!

I used the 3m spray and got my cover very warm ( hair dryer etc ). spray ,stretch and clamp with plastic clamps carefully as to not leave and marks. Finally I used aluminum pop rivets underneath very carefully. The reason for the pop rivets was the adhesive just would not hold the stretch for me. I did have pictures posted. Mine turned out great. Hope this helps.

I have never used it, as I usually have Gary Ellis install my seat covers, but I was told of an adhesive used in the tire repair industry that is so good that once you stick it you cannot move it that the person that referred me to use for his seat covers. Mike

It helps if you warm the seat cover before installing. The material stretches when it is warm and then shrinks when it cools back down giving you a nice tight fit. Besides the glue I add a couple small bands of metal along the base ridge and then pop rivet through the metal band and seat cover into the base.
