Needing rear shocks for a built in March 1973 Jackpiner.
It will be a nice rider.

Mercy, 80 reads. I guess I'll go with the Hagons.

I had a set of Hagons on my hare scrambler. I went with medium damping. I should have ordered with heavy damping.

Boyd,

I have Hagons with 90# springs on my 72 Jack Piner, been on there for 13 years with no issues.   That stated, I just got in a set of the NJB Ultimate MX shocks from Matt at Speed and Sport for my 250 https://www.speedandsport.com/index.php?cID=937 .  Have not tried these out yet, but the biggest selling point for me was that you can actually adjust the length, not just the damping.  Pretty much the same price as Hagons too.

Thanks,

Kevin

Very interesting Kevin.  Do you plan to race or them or gentle trail ride?  Give use report on their performance!

Mick,

Won't be racing it, just trails and back roads.  I do have a buddy that put a set of these on a Husky 250 he races, I'll get him to post his impressions.  I was kind of amazed when I first saw these last year, I don't ever recall seeing a shock that you can change the length on prior to these.  Seems like a better way to go than buying 340MM long and being disappointed if they were little short or tall for the particular bike.

Thanks,

Kevin

Ahh yes NJB's. I have just been doing research on these. Look like the best of both worlds. I notice a lot of Trails riders are using them. They make a Trails and a MX version. The Ultimate MX version is like Kevin says, the length is adjustable and they offer a 90 LB. spring for beefy riders.
Issue I have with the 73 Jackpiner is the circumference of the other shocks I have on hand. Curnutts and Progressives will end up with chain rash.
I sure would like to know how the NJB's work for you Kevin.
